Nominate a Practitioner and Leader of the Year

MN DEC is proud of the high quality of services provided to young children and their families and recognizes this is the result of the talented and caring professionals working with children, families, and programs throughout the state. MN DEC wants to acknowledge these professionals who make significant differences in the lives of the children, families, and programs. Two awards are presented annually.  The Practitioner Award is for the outstanding professional working directly with children and families. The Leadership Award is to acknowledge the professional who provides exemplary leadership in the field at the local or state level.  Awards will be presented at the ECSE Leadership Forum in March.  Click on the following for the Nomination Form:

2017 Action Research Initiative Grants
The Minnesota Division for Early Childhood of the Council for Exceptional Children (DEC)  has agreed to devote the proceeds from the silent auction, held annually at the Division’s fall conference to fund practitioners who wish to engage in action research efforts within their district programs.  Two grants of $500 each are available.  Applicants may be individual practitioners or teams of practitioners and be currently working in a program that serves young children with disabilities and their families.   Action-research grant recipients must be willing to write a short article describing the process and results for publication on Minnesota DEC’s website.
Only one applicant on the team needs to be a current MNDEC member.  If you are not a member, you can become one.  (Click on the link for Membership information:  http://www.mndec.org/Membership.html )
  Typical components of Action Research:

1.  Identifying the problem to be solved
2.  Diagnosing the causes of the problem
3.  Formulating an action hypothesis
4. Designing and implementing an action plan 5. Simple procedures for analysis of the resulting data or evidence
